Pretty Petals Scrap Card + Class Reminder For This Saturday

Here's the last of my scrap cards in this series.  I have had a lot of fun with this technique - and I have been using up lots of bits and pieces - win win!!

This is the card that I made during class the other week when I was demonstrating the technique.  The Designer Series Paper stack is called Pretty Petals (138442) and it has been lovely to play with.  I love how the blue Pacific Point colour pops on this card.

I have used one of my favourite sentiment stamps from the Suite Sayings set (available in wood 140709 or clear mount 140712) in the Occasions Catalogue and teamed it with the punched butterflies (Bitty Butterfly 129406 and Elegant Butterfly 127526).  I'd love to see what projects you are making - send me an email with what you are creating - it's fun to share!!

Just a reminder for those who live in the Newcastle / Lake Macquarie / Maitland area - my next class is this Saturday 28th May at 2pm (my home in Cameron Park, NSW).  Please RSVP 0479 196 781 or email: lisa.gai.hodge@gmail.com asap if you would like to come along as spots are filling up fast.

Happy crafting and hugs.
Lisa xx

More Paper Scrap Cards

In my previous post you got to see one of the cards that we made at my Easy Cards Class using up paper with the hexagon punch. Here is the other card we created using up strips of coordinating papers - the Designer Series Paper used here are from the Pretty Petals Paper Stack (138442). This effect is a bit like quilting where you layer pieces in a pattern until you are happy - then glue the pieces down. For this card I cut a panel of whisper white cardstock, layered the papers down - I adhered them with Fast Fuse - but you can use whatever you feel most comfortable using (snail adhesive, double-sided tape, glue). Once all the papers are stuck down trim the overhanging pieces off with scissors. I then adhered the panel to a folded A5 piece of whisper white cardstock.

Layer up with punched pieces, a sentiment, and some twine and rhinestones. Here I have used the Pansy punch (130698), Blossom Bunch punch (140612), and Petite Petals punch (133322). The sentiment is from Suite Sayings (140709) and I have coloured the sentiment with my Old Olive and Calypso Coral Stampin' Write Markers.

For this card I have used the same technique except I have layered on Basic Black cardstock - and I have run the completed panel through my Big Shot using the embossing folder Lovely Lace (133737).  I think this adds to the quilting idea where you quite often see the sewn pattern over the top of quilted pieces of fabric.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing these cards.  Don't forget to RSVP for this coming Saturday's class - 28th May at 2pm.  Details are here.

Hugs,
Lisa xx

Hexagon Punch Fun!

On Saturday we had a lovely card class devoted to ways to use up scraps of paper.  I was happy to find out I'm not the only one who hangs onto scrap pieces as they might be useful!

For one of the cards we used the Hexagon Punch to punch out papers then piece them in an interesting pattern.  It is a bit like quilting in that you put papers together that are different but coordinate.  The hexagon punch (code: 130919) is retiring and on special in my online store for $19.60 (instead of $28).  There is also a coordinating stamp set called Six-Sided Sampler available in Wood or Clear Mount.  The punch and stamp-set can be purchased separately or as a bundle.

Adhere the punched pieces to the cardstock then trim any overhanging pieces to where the edge of the cardstock is.

The sentiment stamped here is from Suite Sayings (available in wood or clear mount).
So get out your scrap pieces and use them up today!  I will post more cards in following days that show you how to do this.

Happy crafting & hugs,
Lisa xx
