Getting ready for Christmas with Embellished Ornaments

http://www3.stampinup.com/ECWeb/default.aspx?dbwsdemoid=4011806
As you know I have started my Christmas cards a bit earlier this year.  Usually I get to December and stress out as I have so much going on - so I'm trying to be a very good girl this year and be super organized!!  I've been coming up with some cards that have a simple layout.  It's a good idea to work out some simple Christmas cards that you can then go and make multiples of.  You can really speed things up once you have the design and measurements - then just do bulk lots of elements - eg. stamping out heaps of baubles for one session, then cutting baubles for another, tying lots of bows, putting the pieces together.

For this card I have used the Embellished Ornaments bundle - which included the Embellished Ornaments stamp set and the matching Delicate Ornaments thinlits dies.  This set is available in Clear Mount or Wood Mount.
http://www3.stampinup.com/ECWeb/default.aspx?dbwsdemoid=4011806
This was a bundle that I just had to have when I saw the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue and it really is a lovely set to work with. It is also a great set for getting a lot of Christmas cards made quickly - but with stunning effect.  I will have some more blog posts coming soon with cards made with this set.

Flowers Make Me Happy - Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #17 Floral Theme

http://stampinkpaper.com/2015/10/sip-challenge-17-theme/

Today I'm playing along with Stamp Ink Paper's Challenge #17 - Floral Theme.

SIP Theme 17 800
As most of my stamping friends know I have a bit of an obsession with floral stamps.  I have drawers and drawers of them.  Some people have a thing for shoes - nope! not me - stamps and in particular floral stamps are my weakness.  So today I've used the Stampin' Up! stamp set Petite Petals.  I haven't used this stamp set a whole lot.  No reason why - just have grabbed other floral sets - so I wanted to use it for the challenge. I think I'll be getting it out more as it is a really easy set to work with and use on a variety of projects.
http://www3.stampinup.com/ECWeb/default.aspx?dbwsdemoid=4011806

I took some inspiration from the colours in the challenge photo too.  I started out colouring the pink flowers with my blender pen and ink from the Blushing Bride and Rose Red stamp pads.  For the purple flowers though, I used the blender pen to do the centre of the flowers with Tempting Turquoise ink, but used my aqua painter to do the petals with Blackberry Bliss ink.  Blackberry Bliss is such an intense colour it can over power the stamped image and lose the stamped lines. I picked up some colour with the aqua painter and squeezed the aqua painter on the lid of my Blackberry Bliss ink pad so that the colour would be watered down a lot.  I now have petals that haven't lost the detail of the stamp but still pick up the beautiful Blackberry Bliss colour. I then went back over the centre of the flower drawing out the Tempting Tuquoise colour into the Blackberry Bliss colour with my blender pen. I'm really happy with how the colours came out.

I loved using the new Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder from the Holiday Catalogue on my Perfect Plum base card.  Stampin' Up! have been releasing some great embossing folders in the bigger 15.2 x 15.2cm size - wonderful for larger projects.  Check out the other "ingredients" I have used to make this card below.

Happy Hootin' Birthday Miss Penelope

http://www3.stampinup.com/ECWeb/default.aspx?dbwsdemoid=4011806
Our adorable niece Penelope celebrated her third birthday on the weekend. I created this card using the owl from the Howl-o-ween Treat stamp set as I know that she is a fan of Giggle and Hoot on the ABC Kids television channel.
http://www3.stampinup.com/ECWeb/default.aspx?dbwsdemoid=4011806
It was a fun card to make - and it was nice to use the Howl-o-ween Treat stamp set for a project other than Halloween.  I have provided the instructions to this card in the latest edition of my e-newsletter.

If you would like to learn how to make this card send me an email requesting to join my e-newsletter list (it is free to join).  My email address is lisa.gai.hodge@gmail.com
My monthly e-newsletter has Stampin' Up! news, details for classes that I am running, product tips and a project that I have designed with instructions.

Just For You A Watercolor Wings Butterfly! - Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #16

http://stampinkpaper.com/2015/09/sip-challenge-16-card-makers-choice/

Well today I am back playing along with the challenge on Stamp Ink Paper - Challenge #16
Now normally I would find it hard to pick a favourite stamp set, ink or paper - but this time around I found this easy!!  Ever since the Stampin' Up! 2015-2016 Annual Catalogue launched I have been constantly using the stamp set Watercolor Wings and the coordinating framelits Bold Butterfly Framelits and Butterflies Thinlits. Yes I think I have definitely been making the most of this set!

http://www3.stampinup.com/ECWeb/default.aspx?dbwsdemoid=4011806

I have also been using the Timeless Elegance Designer Series Paper constantly.  This paper is beautiful as is - but is also gorgeous to colour! Check out these previous posts - these are some of the cards that I have made using this Designer Series Paper Set.

You may have noticed that in the Father's Day Card that I have replicated my card layout but turned it into a feminine card!  I really liked this simple layout and just by flipping the paper over to this flower pattern and adding a butterfly I have made a super easy but gorgeous card for a special lady. I have used one of my favourite pinks (you may have noticed I do love pink!) - Blushing Bride - to colour the flowers, butterfly and sentiment (teamed with Basic Gray ink).  Check out the card "ingredients" below to see what I've used to bring this card together:

I will be teaching this card along with some other cards at a special Scrap Slavery fundraising workshop at Crop Fest. The event is on Saturday 31st October - my workshop is the 1-3pm session.  For more details check out this post Crop Fest - and contact Carmen Allen to grab a spot at the workshop (strictly limited numbers).

I hope you have enjoyed seeing this card - please check out the amazing cards at Stamp Ink Paper and play along!
